Using Adobe Firefly in the class
Context: This class is for a group of 24 students at a private run school. They have a B1 level. They have been working on online gambling, doing research on what it is, how it affects children psychologically and the prevalence of this problem in Argentina.
This is the last part of the project they were involved in. They will now participate in an Instagram campaign in which they will make their findings visible for the rest of the community.
By the end of the unit students will be able to:
Identify the main elements to describe the problem of online gambling.
Synthesize what they believe others should know.
Ventriloquize with Adobe about the best prompt to create an image.
Create compelling images.
Analyze their peers work and give feedback to them
Co-curate with Adobe Firefly the hashtags for their campaign.
Upload the images onto their Instagram account.
Critical thinking and reflection about their campaign.
Into:
To active students’ prior knowledge and prepare them for the work to be done on this class, students will brainstorm what they remember as the most important elements they discovered through their research on online gambling.
Later, the teacher will explain that they have to work in groups and create a compelling image for an Instagram campaign that raises awareness on this problem for young children.
Through:
Students will work in groups and create different prompts in Adobe Firefly and different images to use for their campaign. Once they have reached an image that they consider is good enough, they will upload the image onto the group’s classroom. They will receive feedback from another group on how to improve their image or what hashtags to accompany their image.
Next, they will create the hashtags to accompany their campaign.
It is important to mention and discuss with the class that the tool used needs to be acknowledged when creating our post! Here the teacher will take the opportunity to mention the ethical use of AI.
Beyond:
Students will create QR codes to share their images in the school’s corridors as well, for their images to gain visibility.
A month after their campaign, students will access their Instagram account and find out how many people have seen and interacted with the images they created
