Pictochart:
AI-Generated Infographics
Welcome to my post! Today, we’re diving into Piktochart, a powerful and user-friendly tool for creating stunning visuals like infographics, presentations, and posters. In this post, I’ll guide you through a quick tutorial on how to use Piktochart, share my thoughts on its features and usability, and even suggest a practical example of how you can incorporate this tool into your classroom for an engaging learning experience. Let's explore how Piktochart can enhance creativity and inclusivity in the classroom!
Piktochart is an online platform designed to help users create visually compelling content without needing extensive design experience. From infographics to reports and videos, this tool is an all-in-one solution for producing professional visuals that effectively communicate information (Pete, 2023).
Piktochart’s interface is designed with ease in mind, allowing users to create content using three main methods.
Starting from Scratch: Users can build their visuals on a blank canvas, adding and customizing text, shapes, and other elements as needed.
Using Templates: For those who need guidance, Piktochart offers hundreds of templates tailored for various content types. Simply choose a template, customize it, and adjust the content to meet your needs.
AI-Powered Design: Piktochart also offers an AI generator that can create layouts based on user specifications. This feature allows you to quickly produce designs by entering a few key details, making it particularly useful for busy educators (Pete, 2023).
If you're short on time or want to get started quickly, Piktochart's AI-powered design tool is an excellent option for generating an infographic in minutes. Here's a quick guide on how to use it:
Sign Up and Log In - First, create a free Piktochart account if you don’t already have one. Once you’re logged in, you’ll be taken to your dashboard.
2. Access the AI Generator - On your dashboard, click on the "Create New" button and select AI-Powered Infographic Maker from the options. This will open the AI design tool.
3. Enter Your Design Title - You’ll be prompted to input a title that describes what you want to create. For example, you could type "Food Waste" or "World War I." Be as specific as possible to help the AI generate the best results.
4. Generate the Design - After entering your brief, click the Generate button. The AI will offer you 4-6 infographic templates based on your description. You can scroll through the options and choose the one that best fits your needs.
5. Customize Your Infographic - Once you’ve selected a template, you can further edit it. Change the text, colours, images, or layout as needed. Piktochart’s drag-and-drop interface makes it easy to adjust elements without any design experience.
6. Download or Share - When you’re happy with your design, click the Download button to save your infographic as a PNG, PDF, or PowerPoint file. You can also directly share it via a link or embed it into a website or presentation.

Integrating Piktochart's AI-generated infographic tool in inclusive classrooms offers significant advantages in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN).
According to Delaney (2016), assistive technologies play a critical role in enabling students with SEN to work independently, build confidence, and overcome barriers to learning. Piktochart’s AI tool can be particularly beneficial by allowing students to visually organize information and create accessible, attractive content without needing extensive design skills. The visual nature of infographics also aligns with the needs of visual learners and can aid students who struggle with traditional text-based assignments by providing alternative ways to express their knowledge (Delaney, 2016).
By presenting information visually, Piktochart can support students with difficulties in memory, sequencing, and organization, helping them break down complex information into more manageable steps. The tool’s customization options, such as color adjustments, also address the needs of students with visual stress by enabling them to choose screen colors that are easier to read, thus reducing eye strain and enhancing focus (Delaney, 2016). Through these inclusive features, Piktochart’s AI-generated infographics not only facilitate creative expression but also support the diverse learning needs of all students.

In this lesson plan, students engage with AI-generated infographics on pressing environmental issues like climate change, plastic pollution, and deforestation. They'll critically evaluate these AI creations, research credible sources to verify information and refine the infographics to enhance accuracy and persuasiveness. Through collaborative work and hands-on learning, students gain valuable skills in research, digital literacy, and persuasive communication—ultimately sharing their work to raise awareness on social media. This activity empowers students to analyze digital content thoughtfully while impacting environmental education.
