Primary students have one hour music lesson per week. Music lessons include a range of activities including singing, playing age appropriate instruments, composing, performing, listening and appraising activities.
We don't teach children to be Musicians!
We want all children to develop their musical skills as strongly as possible but we also acknowledge that there is real value in the broad range of skills that children will learn though their musical education, including:
Fine & Gross Motor Skills
Language development & Communication Skills
Mathematical Skills
Self Regulation Skills
Social Cohesion Skills
For more information, please check the Primary Music Website here.
We employ an outstanding team of instrumental tutors who are able to offer tuition on the full range of orchestral instruments, guitar, bass guitar, drums and piano. Instrumental lessons are provided free of charge to school students on a rotational timetable system. The school has a stock of instruments which are available to hire for a minimal fee.
Please scroll down for an introduction to our instrumental tutors and their instruments.

From Years 3-6, all students are taught a drama lesson once a week for 1 hour by Primary drama specialist, Rachael Potter. These lessons are designed to complement the children's Explore learning, while developing a foundation of expressive movement and drama techniques. This is to develop their confidence and skills of collaboration, communication and creative thinking.
Why Drama?
"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." Benjamin Franklin
The Benefits of Drama:
Drama is important means of stimulating CREATIVITY IN PROBLEM SOLVING
It can CHALLENGE STUDENTS' PERCEPTIONS about their world and about themselves
Dramatic exploration can provide students with an outlet for emotions, thoughts, and dreams that they might not otherwise have means to express
Drama provides a SAFE ATMOSPHERE, where actions and consequences can be examined, discussed, and in a very real sense EXPERIENCED without the dangers and pitfalls that such experimentation would obviously lead to in the "real" world
Children will understand and use drama skills and vocabulary
Drama lessons will complement classroom learning
