Ensuring student success at my student teaching placement meant making all assignments available online. There were many instances when my students could not attend class and missed daily assignments. To combat this, I made work accessible through Google Classroom. I uploaded daily assignments onto the website with detailed instructions and the presentation I shared during class. Even if students were absent for multiple days, they could stay on track by checking the website. I also uploaded supplemental material, such as copies of the play we read in class and writing models.
Taking advantage of this technology was important in multiple ways. I updated students’ grades through Google Classroom, which allowed them to self-monitor and keep track of their progress on assignments throughout the quarter. For larger projects, such as their narrative summative assessment, I could comment on a digital version of their drafts, and students could see my feedback through the website.
I have included this in my portfolio because it demonstrates my proficiency in using technology in the classroom. I also believe it showcases my organizational skills and my dedication to accessibility.
