Strawberries, Round Two
Sharna, Jessica, Kamara, and Quincy

Sharna (right) and her daughter Jessica (off screen) stopped by the farmers market after picking up Jessica’s kids, Kamara (left) and Quincy (off screen), from school. This is the second time they’ve stopped by today.
Jessica: Quincy ate all the strawberries that I bought earlier. I had to restock!
Sharna: I also bought these tomatoes, they're not really ripe, but I want to wait for them. When you pick out a tomato, you want them to be firm, not like the mushy ones, and then they go bad really quick. You always want to put it stem down, always, and not in the fridge, either.
Jessica: No, not in the fridge. They need to be on the counter kind of like potatoes. Those are just little tricks you kind of pick up
Sharna: I cook all kinds of things, I make chicken, my famous chicken everybody loves, my sticky chicken. I make my jag, because we're Native American, so I make my jag. I just make all kinds of stuff. I like making just regular food. Ooh, I'm making eggplant lasagna tomorrow, it's really good, I already got the eggplant. It's good, you just fry it up a little bit and you cut them around instead of the pasta, because you know, I don't really like pasta.
Jessica: I know, you're not a pasta person.
Sharna: So I use the eggplant instead of the pasta. You make it the same way, instead of noodles you just put the eggplant, and then you do the sauce. It's good.
Jessica: Maybe if you make it then I'll try it
Sharna: I like spaghetti squash boats, chicken, pork chops. Well, I don't really cook pork chops too often. I'm not really a pork eater, or bacon. I'm trying to eat healthier, you know what I mean, so I'm trying to stay with all that.
Kamara: Cuz you do wanna be healthy.
Jessica: That's one of the reasons why we came here too. I saw strawberries immediately, so I knew I was gonna get them.
Sharna: See, I didn't have any blueberries, they have some blueberries or black raspberries which are my favorite. I don't like strawberries.
Jessica: Quincy's the one that ate all the strawberries, they were really good, they were really sweet. At the supermarket you don't always find them as sweet. They go bad so fast.
Sharna: You also gotta look at them and look what is wrong with the strawberries because they can be mushy. If they're mushy then the rest of them are going to be mushy, and then you have to throw them away. Make sure they're nice and firm. Same thing with blueberries, same thing with black raspberries.
Jessica: And you always want to wash them when you get home. I did forget to wash the first one he ate but yeah a little dirt is not gonna hurt him, he's gonna be okay. We all played in dirt as kids.
