Fresh African Food

Theresa, the woman in the orange hat, values the Broad Street Farmers Market because its produce reminds her of her home country.
I’ve been coming here every year. And from the beginning, I've been coming here for a long time. I used to live nearby. But I moved to Florence Street. I drive here. I still come every week. If I'm sick, I'm disabled. But I try to come. They have mostly fresh African food that we eat in Africa. Like the bitter ball, the pepper, she (gestures to one of the African vendors) has hot pepper, very hot. And we love that. We eat potato greens, and we eat water greens.
I'm from Sierra Leone and my husband’s from Liberia. We met in Sierra Leone because he attended school in Sierra Leone. They sent him to go there. In those days, Sierra Leone had good education. So most of those parents sent their children over there to go learn.
When I came, started buying, then [the vendors and I] became friends. We asked for their phone numbers. We became a bit friendly with them.
