Bins

Location Communal bins are outside, to the left of the building. 

Locks You should find a key either in your room or kitchen to fit the locks. Please keep them locked or they end up getting filled with all sorts of random things by non-residents!

Waste separation Oxford City Council is extremely strict about putting the right things in the right bins and will refuse to collect if there is recycling in landfill or vice-versa. There should be a poster in your kitchen to help you with this, or read on below.

What goes in what bin

Blue bins

FOR RECYCLING waste. Make sure you check packaging for what can be recycled. About 80% of waste is currently recyclable. Please don't use any black bags in this bin.

Green bins

FOR LANDFILL waste. This is non-recyclable waste and should be considered a last resort.

Food caddy/ Red bin

FOR FOOD waste. These can be lined with ordinary plastic bags if you do not have the compostable ones handy. The bags go in the RED BIN.

The rear garden

Noise You are welcome to use this area, but please be sensitive to any neighbours in or around the hall (not forgetting those on night placements!)

Smoking Smoking bins are provided- please don't litter cigarettes. No smoking is allowed in the building.

Bike storage We have bike loops here. Please don't keep bikes in the building- they cause fire escape obstructions and mess.

Washing lines Are for use by all. 

Laundry The instructions posted should hopefully be easy to follow . The machines are coin-operated, so please plan ahead.

The laundry

You should be able to access the laundry at the rear of the building with your room key card. You should see instruction on how the machines work on the wall.

We don't own the machines, they are part of the building lease, so are not able to control the price. It may be that you can save some money by teaming up with other residents and share the costs of washing uniforms if needed.

Mail

You will be issued with a mailbox key along with your keycard. Mailboxes are located next to the main entrance door.

When you leave the accommodation, please be sure to cancel any regular subscriptions to that the next tenant does not continue to receive your mail.
