Learning Environment/Culture
Breckenridge Community Schools will build relationships with a focus on creating engaging opportunities that encourage student involvement.
At our school, we believe that a safe and positive environment is essential for everyone to learn, grow, and succeed. But keeping our school safe isn’t something one person can do alone – it takes all of us working together.
This is where the "See Something, Say Something" approach comes in. If we see something unusual, concerning, or potentially dangerous, it’s important that we speak up and share that information. Whether it’s a friend who seems upset, bullying, or something that just doesn’t feel right, saying something can make a big difference.
One powerful tool available to all of us is OK2Say, a statewide program that allows students, staff, and the community to report anything that might affect a student or the safety of the school. The best part is that OK2Say is anonymous, meaning you can share what you know without giving your name. This ensures that students feel comfortable coming forward and can help prevent dangerous situations before they happen.
When we all look out for each other, our school becomes a safer, more positive place to be. So, if you see something, don’t hesitate to say something – you could be helping to protect a friend, a classmate, or even yourself. Let’s work together to make our school a place where everyone feels safe and valued!
For more information on OK2Say and how to make a report, visit OK2Say website.
Together, we can make a difference!
The Importance of Student Involvement
Breckenridge Parents & Families,
At Breckenridge Community Schools, we believe that student involvement is key to fostering a positive school experience and building a sense of belonging within our community. Whether it's through academics, athletics, or extracurricular activities, students who engage in school programs develop valuable skills, build friendships, and strengthen their connection to their school.
We are excited to announce our upcoming Action-Based Learning Night at Breckenridge Elementary. This is a great opportunity for students to stay active while learning in a fun and interactive way. Additionally, our youth sports programs provide a perfect chance for students to stay involved, stay healthy, and build teamwork skills. Keep an eye out for even more offerings in the coming months, as we work to engage every child in meaningful ways.
At the middle and high school level, we take pride in offering something for everyone. Despite being a small school, Breckenridge has a wide variety of activities that cater to many interests. From athletics to clubs, our offerings include:
Athletic Teams
FFA
Writing Team
Robotics
eSports
Student Council
German Exchange Program
Choir and Band
AND MORE!!
These programs are designed to support students in pursuing their passions, helping them feel like a valued part of our school community. It's important to us that each student feels at home here in Breckenridge.
To the parents who actively support your children’s involvement in these activities, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you. Your encouragement and participation are crucial to their success. Whether you're volunteering, cheering from the sidelines, or leading a program, your efforts make a significant impact. If you have a passion for any of these activities, I invite you to get involved as a volunteer or leader.
I also encourage parents to reach out to students who may not yet be participating in any school activities. There is truly something for everyone, and these experiences can help students grow both academically and personally. Together, as a community, we can help each student find their path to personal excellence.
Thank you for your ongoing support of Breckenridge Schools and our students!
Sincerely,
Wade Slavik
