Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate (OMC)

INCI name : Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate

Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate (OMC) เป็น chemical sunscreen ทำหน้าที่ดูดกลืนรังสียูวีในช่วงความยาวคลื่น 290-320 nm ปกป้องรังสี UVB ได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ อีกทั้งยังป้องกัน short-wave UVA ได้อีกด้วย ละลายได้ดีในน้ำมัน/เอทานอล เหมาะสำหรับการขึ้นสูตรชนิดกันน้ำ เป็นตัวทำละลายที่ดี และสามารถเพิ่มค่า SPF เมื่อใช้งานร่วมกับยูวีฟิลเตอร์ตัวอื่นๆ

Dosage use: 2% - 10%

• Sun care product ในรูปแบบต่างๆ เช่น สเปรย์ ครีม และชนิดแท่ง

• Make-up product จำพวกรองพื้น คอนซีลเลอร์ ลิปสติกลิปกลอส

• Hair care product  ผลิตภัณฑ์ตกแต่งทรงผม ป้องกันเส้นผมจากความร้อน, แชมพูสำหรับผู้ที่ทำสีผม

• ปกป้องผิวและเส้นผม ที่อาจเป็นอันตรายจากได้แสงแดดทั้ง UBA และ UVB

• Organic sunscreen ที่ได้จาก Cinnamic Acid พบได้ในพืชซินนามอน

Regulatory

         ถูกนำมาใช้ในหลายประเทศ อาทิเช่น แถบเอเชีย แถบยุโรป กลุ่มประเทศอาเซียน จีน ญี่ปุ่น เกาหลี อินเดียแอฟริกาใต้ อเมริกา ออสเตรเลีย นิวซีแลนด์ บราซิล และแคนาดา โดยมีการจำกัดปริมาณที่ใช้แตกต่างกันออกไปดังนี้

EU: 10% max

ASEAN: 10% max

MERCOSUR: 10% max
  แคนาดา: 8.5% max

ออสเตรเลีย นิวซีแลนด์ : 10% max

จีน: 10% max

อินเดีย:         10% max

ญี่ปุ่น: 20% max (not for use on mucous membrane)

                       8% max (allowed for use on mucous membrane)

เกาหลี:         7.5% max

อเมริกาใต้: 10% max

Phototoxicity test

        10 subjects were applied patch test for 24 hours and the areas then exposed to a suberythematous dose of UV irradiation. There was no evidence of phototoxicity[5].

Skin irritation test

         In 53 subjects, a Draize repeated insult patch test at a concentration of 2 % caused no irritation. In addition, 54 subjects who enrolled in the Draize repeated insult patch test of a 7.5 % dilution of a.i. in petrolatum showed no irritation[5].
