DJO 2025 Baseball Season
Alex Bennett ('28)
After a thrilling spring season, the Bishop O'Connell Knights Baseball team stormed into the playoffs, capping off their 2025 campaign with an impressive 18-6 record, highlighted by great athletic performances and a dominant showing at the Mingo Bay Classic. The Knights opened the season with a commanding 6-3 win over Potomac School, setting the tone for a strong March. They continued their early momentum with both shutout and close-call wins, including a 13-0 win against Archbishop Carroll and a nail-biting 2-1 win over John Paul the Great. A near-flawless March saw the team take 6 of 8 games, featuring a 5-4 win over DeMatha and a close 7-6 win against The Heights School, both coming in dramatic fashion on their home field. The team showed resilience, even in bad weather. The offense exploded, posting high-scoring victories over teams such as Wassamaw (21-15), Socastee (15-4), and St. James (10-2). This season ended with a hard-fought playoff loss in the WCAC Quarterfinals, where the Knights fell to St. Mary’s Ryken, 5-3. With a strong mix of senior leadership and emerging underclassmen talent, Bishop O'Connell’s baseball program looks set to build on this success in the seasons ahead.
