We last studied genetics and how society has been using it modify the world around us. We wanted to learn more about the ethics of the use of genetics to make changes to our world.
How is the world around us arranged and how do we adapt to it? How can we adapt urban centers to provide for more sustainable housing and environment?
We knew about our cities generally from looking at maps and studying the countries they are in. We had prior knowledge about environmental issues facing the world and our communities.

Student Voice and Choice- students will be developing inquiry and discovery to drive the project
Students will begin building knowledge and skills through research to answer the driving question.
Students will have opportunity to ask questions of expert after initial investigations (TBD)
Students will identify a city they have previously studied or that they will be studying as part of their content standards
Student's individual products will be research in the form of a learning log with correct citations
Students group product will be a digital presentation or video of the recommendations to be implemented by the city they have chosen to study

Some of these cities have active programs for increasing sustainability. How successful are they going to be implementing their plans?
For our individual products, we created a research log to organize and record information we needed to answer the driving question and prepare recommendations to make our chosen city more sustainable.
