At BCP Defence, we've observed that students benefit significantly—both academically and emotionally from chipping in their chance to make the community and world a better place. The literacy classes are based on a phonetic teaching and learning method that allows participants to learn letters and words by associating them with their respective sounds and pronunciations. During a typical session, participants learn to trace the alphabet and, later on, to construct words. As they become familiar with letters and numbers, they can recognize numeric dates as well as the days of the week. The teacher assists learners with writing exercises in workbooks. The Learning Specialist role is aimed at building excellence in learning within our support staff through the teaching service.
The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection and inquiry in order to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage our support staff and improve their learning. Student volunteers play a significant role in assisting to improve support staffs performance and educational outcomes determined by strategic planning. A critical component of this program will focus on increasing the knowledge base and learning of staff within the school.
