Coaches inspire educators and leaders to use technology to create equitable and ongoing access to high-quality learning.
A) 4.1: Create a shared vision and culture for using technology to learn and accelerate transformation through the coaching process.
For this shared vision, I decided to include my final project for EDTL 6310. This project is a style guide website that was created by myself with the input of my colleagues. This style guide served as the influence for my final project, in my hopes to be able to push for change within our department by having resources to access higher-quality learning. In addition, my hopes are that teachers can access this website for curriculum planning details, and this could be something that the department uses to network and build over time. In addition, students can also use this resource for equitable expereinces. This website outlines the mission statement, resources, and expectations for the ELA department. The final project for EDTL 6310 allowed me to expand my knowledge of using technology in education and share that knowledge with others. Please view the full website by clicking here.
B) 4.1: Facilitate equitable use of digital learning tools and content that meet the needs of each learner.
I decided to include my assistive technology proposal on Read&Write software. This software helps use assistive reading tools to help differentiate based on reader/learner needs. With my UDL-final project, I used this presentation to help with professional development opportunities for educators seeking to help incorporate UDL in the classroom. The presentation takes us through the features, case studies, research, and benefits of using assistive learning technology to aid with diverse learner needs. Through this presentation medium, educators and students alike can become more aware of how assistive tools can be utilized within the classroom. Various features help students access resources needed for their success. This artifact helps facilitate the use of digital tools and resources and builds level expectations for all students while providing a variety of methods to achieve learning goals. I would encourage educators to use it in preparation for a lesson or to produce tutorial steps to push out for students.
C) 4.1.: Cultivate a supportive coaching culture that encourages educators and leaders to achieve a shared vision and individual goals.
For this standard, I included a sample tutorial that I created per the IT department's request to share how to operate, set up, and read an originality report via Google Classroom. The tutorial has set instructions and a video tutorial I created to help coach teachers on using different applications. I also included a troubleshooting log that I kept on different issues that educators or students might encounter in their MAP testing sessions. Both artifacts contribute towards supporting a coaching culture for both students and staff and are on the path towards creating a shared network of resource videos, which would make troubleshooting very accessible for those in need of assistance. The information can be accessed by clicking here.
D) 4.1: Recognize educators across the organization who use technology effectively to enable high-impact teaching and earning.
For this standard, I used observation notes to help recognize teacher practices and the effective use of technology. This also contributes to shared lesson plans and resources within my TBTs and daily lessons. I observed two different classrooms and gave teachers feedback about their lessons and their incorporation of technology used. I also provided suggestions of what they could alter in future lessons or include. While observing these lessons, I learned a lot about how technology can be used to organize a classroom while also giving me and the teacher better ideas to use technology effectively.
E) 4.1: Connect leaders, educators, instructional support, technical support, domain experts, and solution providers to maximize the potential of technology for learning.
For this standard, I chose to include my Pinterest board (serving as a self-created PLN) to access a collection of resources and tools that help refine my online teaching practices, my investigation of tools, and classroom types. In addition, I decided to include my plans for professional development implementation and my recommendations based on the needs assessment of educators in the EDTL 6320 course. Suggestions include PLN networks, accessible technology, and an outline of district plan resources. You can access the Pinterest board here.
