New to BEC-TV? Sign up HERE!
We're just entering our WINTER production season. Expect a sleighful of holiday concerts (sometimes 4 different schools in one night!) and more sports than you can shake a hockey stick at!
Our winter sports coverage usually includes Boys & Girls Basketball, Boys Swimming/Diving, Wrestling, Gymnastics, and Boys & Girls Hockey. Most of these you can sign up for event-by-event.
Look ahead on the calendar to see what's coming up and be sure to respond to invites on all shoots!
BEC's Award Winning Coverage makes hockey the 'Hottest Game on Ice' so it's one of the most popular sports with our techs!
We cover select games for Kennedy & Jefferson Boys Varsity teams, and the Jefferson Girls Varsity team. We even pick up a couple JV games as well.
We generally cover the Saturday games, but there will be a couple games during the week. Check the Production Calendar to see what games we're planning for this year.
All the hockey games we cover are at the Bloomington Ice Gardens (BIG). The BEC-TV Production Truck will be set up on the south side of the building, which is visible from 98th street.
As always, all of our hockey games go out live on BEC and sometimes are picked up by other local stations around the metro area. The games will be going out on Facebook Live as well.

Whenever possible during a shoot, our techs and staff wear BEC shirts. They're a reminder that we're all working together as a team to create awesome TV! And anytime we're out filming a concert, a sport, a parade, a graduation, or a the unceremonious unraveling of the World's Largest Ball of Twine, we put on our BEC-wear so our community knows who we are and what we do.
We have regular BEC shirts available to borrow for free during our shoots. But you can also get your VERY OWN BEC-wear with your name embroidered on it! There are many (NEW!) options to choose from. Click here to learn more and place your order!
You must attend at least ten shoots or be on a seasonal crew to order BEC-wear.
**Note: Expect holiday delays... your BEC wear may not arrive until after Christmas.**

Sound familiar? For many years, BEC-TV produced a live late-night tv show called "YRU-UP". This new project-- the Creative Collective-- is inspired by the decades of creative explosion fueled by that show, which ignited the careers of several performers and screenwriters from right here in Bloomington!
Further details are still TBD... the direction of this project is truly in the hands of you, the students... so let's get started!
A few things highlights from the past few months...
-- Thanks to your great work, we cranked out a truckload of fantastic live programming this past fall. Some are even Award Worthy and will be submitted fpr consideration in the upcoming Student Production Awards from the Emmy Foundation
-- It was fun welcoming a batch o' new techs and their families at BEC Basics. Everyone (including Daisy Dog) got their heads filled with great info and their bellies filled with great pizza! We wrapped with the new kids' first shoot in our studio.
-- We said "Goodbye" to Historic Bloomington Stadium, home of EVERY home football game for Kennedy, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Normandale College since the 1950's. BEC has covered hundreds of Football and Soccer games there over the years.
NOW is the time to start signing up for shoots! Check your Google Calendar!
1) Plan ahead with our Production Calendar. Even before we send out invites for shoots, we put them on our production calendar. See the production calendar below and click the [+] to add it to your Google Calendar so you know what's coming up.
2) A few days before each shoot, we will email you an invitation. BE SURE to respond with a Yes or No. Not responding means you didn't see the invite. (Some parents receive shoot invites too, at their request, just so they know what's up. Parents do NOT need to RSVP.)
3) For a refresher on how to sign up for our shoots on your Google Calendar, see our Responding to BEC-TV Invites page.
While we sometimes do recruiting in the schools, we’ve found our BEST source for getting the word out about how awesome it is to work with BEC-TV is by Word of Mouth.
If you’re lovin’ your experience being part of a dynamic award winning production team, invite your friends to come check us out too. There aren’t many programs in the schools as FLEXIBLE as BEC-TV, or that offer FREE participation.
Have ‘em tag along with you to a shoot, or fill out our Online Tech Profile Form.
Invite them SOON so they can get to a BEC Basics session next week, OK?
Special thanks to our friends at the City of Bloomington, who made this swell feature about BEC-TV for their "Discover Bloomington" series.
