NATAS

National Student Production Awards

Last spring BEC-TV was honored to have three of our productions nominated for awards, two of which received Student Production Awards from the Upper Midwest Emmy Foundation. One of those programs - our coverage of State Baseball at Target Field - moved on to the national competition!

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (The "Emmy" people) presented the The National Student Production Awards in New York on November 1. The event was streamed live with students from all across the country watching from their own schools, and we were no exception.

We gathered the team along with some food (and leftover Halloween candy of course), and watched the stream live from Valley View's very own media center. However, NATAS ended up having some technical difficulties on their part. After 45 minutes of the awards with some spicy technical difficulties, they finally ended up fixing their stream! Glad it wasn't OUR side having technical difficulties :D

Though we didn't win at nationals we are still noted as among the best 4 or 5 in the entire country for our live sports productions, which ain't nothing to sneeze at!   We are  mighty proud of our techs, and are excited to continue this year creating more awesome productions!
