Haven't attended the Kickoff or Basics yet, and want to get on some shoots? We'll be holding a session of "BEC Basics" in early January. This is your opportunity to start participating in BEC! And it’s free!
Once we set a date we'll send you the scoop and the RSVP.
YRU-Up was a Live late-night student produced comedy/skit/call-in show that graced the BEC-TV airwaves for over 25 years and launched the careers of all kinds of folks in screen writing, stand-up comedy, acting, animation, and more. It's currently on "Hiatus" ( hi-A-tuss - A fancy-pants word for extended break) but is looking to make a comeback in a new form. Sound intriguing? It should! Stay tuned for details.
Interested in helping out in the BEC office? We've got lots of various things for you to do. Things like burning and printing DVDs, fixing stuff, organizing , editing and lots more.
If this sounds like a good time, let us know! ("Ops" is short for "Operations"... all the behind the important behind-the-scenes stuff that keeps us humming)
Get excited for more TechTraining opportunities - your chances to dig deeper into the art of making great TV. They're on their way in the new year. Info on Tech Training events will be sent out on the Shoots Calendar when they're scheduled.
Our Engineering Team has been working hard all summer and fall to continue some great upgrades with the toys you get to use to make awesome television:
BEC-TV Studio/Valley View Cafetorium: Our home building Valley View Middle School got an HUGE update this summer, that's continuing on for a couple more years. Their little theatre is gone and all their concerts and stage shows will be in their "Cafetorium" now. We've installed cool new ROBOTIC CAMERAS in that space that will be controlled in our updated BEC-TV Control Room. The BEC-TV Studio cams are now robotic as well. If you're a gamer, we expect running these will feel like "Home".
Oak Grove: We're also doing all our Oak Grove concerts with a robotic system. These productions are run in our TV Control Room in the "ESC" (District Administration) part of the building -- The same place we produce School Board meetings and such.
Jefferson Control Room: We're just wrapping a compete upgrade of the production system we use at Jefferson's studio, auditorium, and gym. It features the exact same amazing cameras we use in the truck. While the control room is done, we're still working on getting all the permanent cables run through the ceilings and walls to the auditorium and gyms. For now we get to "Home Run" the cables, so plan a bit more time for setup and strike till we finish up.
