Changes to YouTube for Students:
Disabling access to YouTube service via their BSD account. This change will prevent PK-8 students from accessing YouTube on any computer or device while logged into their BSD account.
While youtube.com is blocked, youtubeeducation.com and youtube-nocookie.com is open.
Why were there changes to YouTube?
To ensure a secure and focused learning environment, the District is making changes to how YouTube content is shared with K-8 students.
Moving forward, K-8 students will no longer be able to access YouTube by following direct links, or going directly to YouTube. Instead, all YouTube videos must be embedded within a platform such as Seesaw, Canvas, Canvas Studio, Google Slides, or Canva for students to view them in class. Embedding a YouTube video places the video player directly onto a website or document, allowing users to watch it in-place without leaving.
