Canvas Studio can be used two different ways. The first is to create your own videos using the screencast-o-matic pro that comes with access to Canvas studio. This allows you to record your computer screen and speak to whatever you are showing on the screen, you also have the option to decide if you want your face in the screen or not. You have a small amount of editing features as well once you have recorded.
The second way, teachers can use Canvas studio to create interactive quizzes. Research shows that interactive videos has one of the highest visible learning effect rates, according to John Hattie's meta research. This takes the passivity out video watching! Teachers have the ability to ask three different style questions at specific time points in the video. Multiple choice, True/False, and Multiple Answer. This is called a Canvas Studio Quiz. Teachers can create these quizzes for your own recorded videos as well as any video from youtube!
Accessibility: Use Canvas Studio to add Captions. With Captions, Teachers can improve the User Experience, Making Videos Viewable In Different Environments.
Engagement: Teachers can also have students leave comments at specific spots in a video. So one direct instruction activity could be to have students ask questions throughout the video. You could even have students attempt to answer questions from their peers.
Analytics: With Canvas Studio, data while students are watching the video. You can see their quiz answers, how far into the video they actually watch etc.
