Lightspeed allows you to set guard rails for your digital lessons to help students focus. Lightspeed allows teachers to view student Chromebook activity. As a teacher you can share your screen, share a student’s screen, send links, and create focused web browsing lists.
Lightspeed can be used in any classroom to enhance your digital classroom experience by allowing teachers the ability to view their students' screens when logged into Chromebooks.
In Lightspeed, teachers are able to:
Push out links to students to draw attention to helpful websites and articles.
Message students as a way to provide targeted supports.
Turn off web browsing when you need whole class attention.
Share a student's Chromebook screen with the rest of your class.
Digital Framework Connections:
The SAMR model, developed by Dr. Ruben Puentedura (see more here), reminds us to think about ways to use technology to redefine tasks and add functions that could not be done without the technology, rather than substitutions all the time. Below are some ways Lightspeed can be used at each stage of the SAMR Model.
Substitution: Assignments completed online, just like the paper versions that were previously completed in class, but teacher interacts with students through Lightspeed for in the moment feedback or re-direction.
Redefinition: Teachers use Lightspeed to personalize learning to each student’s digital assignment while still delivering the same content.
