This course introduces basic concepts of Web Design and Development.. Students will explore HTML tags, CSS formatting and JS functions using a text editor. Upon completion of the course students will be able to use their knowledge of HTML, CSS and JS code to create a simple personal and/ or business website following current professional and/or industry standards. 

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING 1 – A451X

In this introductory programming course you will  learn about software design principles and practices, programming concepts, structured problem solving and computational thinking skills. Students will receive “hands -on” Javascript coding experience. Coding projects will include original App creation, game and animation development and physical computing (circuit playgrounds).

AP COMPUTER SCIENCE PRINCIPLES* – A4811 & A4812

This programming course will introduce students to the creative aspects of programming, abstractions, algorithms, large data sets, the Internet, cybersecurity concerns, and computing impacts. AP Computer Science Principles will give students the opportunity to use technology to address real-world problems and build relevant solutions. All of these aspects of the course make up a rigorous and rich curriculum that aims to broaden participation in Computer Science, while  cultivating “informed” cyber citizens. 

Students in this course are expected to register and pay in the Fall to take the National AP Exam in May.  (*) Denotes Weighted Grade Course

This course will introduce you to key concepts and practices in information security. The Course covers the foundational principles of cybersecurity, risk management, adversarial thinking, data and system security, as well as ethical and privacy considerations in a global society. Practical skills such as personal device protection and online safety are emphasized.

Computer Science provides students the opportunity to use programming, computational thinking, and data analytics to create digital artifacts and documents representing design and analysis in areas including the Internet, algorithms, and the impact that these have on science, business, and society. Computer Science Design gives students the opportunity to use digital tools and techniques including abstraction, modeling, and simulation to collaborate in solving problems that connect computation to their lives.
