All Ohio public schools are required to administer the ACT or SAT as a college and career readiness test. The state of Ohio pays for the state administration of the exam for all eligible high school students in the spring of their junior year. Beavercreek City Schools/Beavercreek High School administers the paper format of the ACT to all grade 11 students in the spring of the school year. Students will test as a junior class, at no cost to them, on an assigned test date that will be communicated to parents and students.
The state-funded administration of the ACT will include the primary subject areas in reading, English, mathematics and science. The state testing of the ACT will not include the optional writing test.
College and Career Readiness Tests are important assessments for high school students. Not only can they be used for college admission purposes but can also be used for scholarship opportunities as well. More importantly, they can be used as part of a student’s plan for high school graduation. As indicated earlier in the Program of Studies, Graduation Requirements for the Class of 2023 and beyond require that students earn 2 diploma seals. One of those possible seals could be the College-Ready Seal. Students can be awarded this seal if they earn remediation free test scores on either the ACT or SAT. These scores are subject to change in the future as deemed appropriate by the Ohio Department of Education.
