"One word: wow!"
Those were the words of Mr. Beamish, the CEO of LAT, as he looked through our Inquiry and English books last week—and they perfectly capture the spirit of our learning journey. Reflecting on Module 3, it has been incredible to witness the transformation in our pupils. Beyond just their academic attainment, there has been a shift in their attitudes toward learning; utilising their agency with confidence, and a willingness to take risks.
Our SOLO reflections this module highlighted this brilliantly, as children considered how the choices governmments make can influence the lives of future generations. This led to the question, what decisions would you make to impact on the lives of the future generations? Some children decided to take on large issues such as poverty, homelessness, the energy crisis whereas other pupils took on more practical matters such as parking and potholes!
This momentum carried right into this week, where Science, Maths, and Art took center stage. In Science, we explored the complexities of classification systems, learning how to categorize living things based on observable characteristics. Our Maths sessions proved just how far our understanding has evolved, as we tackled the relationship between fractions, decimals, and percentages to compare, order, and calculate with ease. Finally, we tapped into our creative side in Art by mastering the technique of subtractive sculpture, carefully carving whole bars of soap into miniature masterpieces.
