Our final week in Module 3 in Year 4 delved even more deeply into our Central Idea as we explored healthcare systems across the world. The children considered case studies of three geographically distant children and examined how they and their families accessed healthcare in their different countries. This provided a valuable opportunity to combine both PSHE and geographical skills, as pupils located countries on a map, compared systems, and discussed fairness and perspective. They developed a strong awareness of how environment and location can shape opportunities and create advantages or challenges in people’s lives. It was amazing to see such thoughtful discussions, empathy and consideration as the children worked together to explore the obstacles and benefits of each healthcare system.
Lullingstone also enjoyed a fantastic life-saving skills swimming lesson to complete their experience at Mote Park Leisure Centre. All the children should be incredibly proud of their achievements. We certainly have some potential swimming champions here in Year 4!
Towards the end of the week, the children worked collaboratively to consolidate their Module 3 learning, using agency to prepare and present their ideas to their peers. This truly celebrated how much knowledge and understanding they have developed. Well done, Year 4 — we hope you all have a fantastic and happy week enjoying the half-term break!
