This week, we completed our inquiry topic around the central idea: “Building relationships helps communities grow and thrive.” The children were inspired to spread smiles throughout our school community by designing and painting rocks for the rock garden outside the main office. They also created posters and videos to share their message and hope to continue spreading kindness to the wider community. We look forward to watching the rock garden grow in the next module and to further connecting communities through these smiles. Together, we ROCK!
As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, the children created maps of belonging, reflecting on the people, places, and communities that help them feel safe, valued, and connected. We also explored online safety, learning how to stay safe online and discussing the important differences between voice assistants (such as Alexa) and real human interaction.
In Maths, we continued exploring addition and subtraction within 20. The children used their knowledge of number bonds to support subtraction and practised counting back using number lines and manipulatives, demonstrating great focus and determination.
In Phonics, we learned two new digraphs: aw (as in dawn) and au (as in sauce). We are extremely proud of the children’s enthusiasm and their growing independence in reading and identifying words with these sounds.
We hope you all have a restful break and enjoy making many wonderful memories together. We can’t wait to see you in Module 4!
