At Barlby Bridge Primary School, our PE curriculum is designed to cultivate well-rounded individuals who embody our core values of compassion, creativity, aspiration, achievement, respect, resilience, empathy, and equality. By the time children leave us, we aim for them to not only possess a comprehensive understanding of various sports and physical activities but also demonstrate exemplary sportsmanship, showing respect and empathy towards their teammates and opponents alike. Our curriculum nurtures resilience and aspiration, encouraging children to set and strive for personal goals while fostering an inclusive environment where everyone is valued equally, regardless of their background or ability level. Through PE, we aim to instil a lifelong appreciation for physical well-being and sportsmanship, empowering our children to lead healthy, active lives with a strong sense of empathy and kindness towards others.
In addition to our curriculum, pupils at Barlby Bridge have various opportunities to participate in competition. Each pupil represents their school House at sports days, and we also offer after school clubs run both by staff and external providers. We also offer our residential visit to Robinwood to pupils in Years 5 and 6, covering a variety of adventurous activities. Pupils across Key Stage 2 the opportunity to develop leadership and coaching skills by applying to become Play Leaders. Our Play Leaders provide physically active games and challenges at playtimes to promote regular physical activity for all pupils in school.
