Intent Statement

At Barlby Bridge Primary, our Geography curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a deep understanding of the world. Rooted in the principles of the National Curriculum and enhanced by the evidence-led CUSP Geography framework, our intent is to develop pupils who are active learners and thinkers, capable of making meaningful connections between places, people, cultures, and environments.

We aim to build a coherent and cumulative body of geographical knowledge that enables pupils to:

• Understand the relationship between physical and human processes.

• Develop spatial awareness and a sense of place, from their local environment to the global community.

• Use geographical vocabulary with precision and confidence.

• Think critically and compassionately about global issues, fostering empathy and respect for diverse cultures and communities.

Our curriculum reflects our school values, ensuring that pupils are equipped not only with knowledge but with the character to engage with the world responsibly, respectfully and thoughtfully.
