Crafting Around the World

Students will learn basic terms and stitches of crochet, as well as the history of crochet.
We will explore crochet styles and projects from around the world.
By the end of this course, students will be able to complete more advanced projects on their own.
Around the World with YES - Art Adition

Around the World with YES-Art Edition-In this class students will experience various aspects of art through learning drawing techniques, color theorem, 3D Figures, Origami, and other forms of art. We will also experience different items from all around the world!
Around the World with Apprenticeship

Students will be working on leadership and communication skills, self esteem and team building skills.
Around the World with YES: Designers and Entrepreneurs
Ms. Byrd
The designers' and entrepreneurs' enrichment will help students become self-sufficient by using their talent to become small business owners. They can show teachers and students their abilities to create and profit from their designers. We will make pillows, design shirts, and make jewelry.
G's World of Tees
Ms. Grable
G’s World of Tee’s is a class that creates their own t’shirts. In Ms. Grable’s class students will first learn the safety procedures of using the heat press machine, cricut and tools needed to create their shirts. Students will also familiarize themselves with the cricut app. The cricut app is the app that prints the font for your t-shirts. After gaining much experience and confident in using both the cricut and the heat press, students will then be able to create their own t-shirt. By the end of the semester students will be allowed to create their own sweatshirt design.
Around the World with Braiding
Mrs. Warthen
African Hair Braiding is the process of combining three or more strands of hair or materials to create a pattern or structure on the hair. Students will use this skill to create special patterns in the hair by using Science and Math to master the technique. By the end of the semester, they will be able to make connections and learn tension free trends that they are able to use through adulthood.
Around the World with YES: Gamers Edition
Mrs. Liggins and Mrs. Barksdale/Mr. Hosley
Y.E.S. Gamers will participate in playing games that provide students with hands on learning opportunities. Additionally, students will be able to develop 21st century social skills, such as teamwork and collaboration. Games make learning fun and enjoyable which can increase attention span, concentration, and improve retention of learned material. Games also help students with decision making, and analyzing problems to find solutions.
E-Sports and Forensics Around the World
Mrs. Poole and Mrs. Negandhi
Combination Class!
E-Sports - Students will play sports games on XBox and Playstation consoles that are played around the world. Students will be able to compete against each other or the computer during enrichment.
Forensics - Each class begins with a warm-up activity targeting forensic science concepts and other skills (observation, problem-solving, etc.) During this crime scene basis lesson students learn basic vocabulary with crime scene analysis as well as explore forensic careers. Power of evidence lesson students explore different types of evidence, such as physical, circumstantial, and testimonial evidence.
Sewing and Art Around the World
Mrs. Dever-Moxley and Mrs. Randall
Students will learn to sew and mend their clothes. Students will get to make a pillow and small stuffed animals.
Chess Around the World
Mr. LeFranc
Chess Around the World with YES will endeavor to engage and ameliorate higher order thinking skills of students through the game of Chess while having fun. As Chess is known to be a challenging, and thought provoking game, we likewise seek to challenge and provoke our children to deep thought.
