Community partnerships play a vital role in enriching the experiences of our YES Afterschool Program students by connecting learning to real-world skills, careers, and positive role models. Through these partnerships, students are exposed to diverse talents, professions, and opportunities that extend beyond the classroom, helping them build confidence, develop healthy habits, and strengthen their sense of community. These meaningful collaborations allow students to learn from individuals who reflect creativity, leadership, and success in various fields.
During this visit, students were energized by community line dancers Sheniah Williams and social media celebrity Twin Taylor, who taught engaging line dances that promoted movement, teamwork, and self-expression. Additionally, Zyajah Brown, a dental hygienist, led an informative presentation on the importance of proper dental hygiene. Students learned correct brushing techniques, the impact of healthy food choices, and practical ways to care for their teeth. The session concluded with students receiving goodie bags, reinforcing healthy habits while leaving a lasting and positive impression.
As we enter the holiday season, the YES Afterschool Program would like to wish our families a joyful and restful break. This time is a wonderful opportunity to slow down, spend quality time together, and create meaningful memories that don’t require spending money—just love, laughter, and connection. Whether it’s sharing meals, taking walks, playing games, or simply enjoying one another’s company, these moments matter most.
We hope this break brings your family peace, joy, and renewed energy. Enjoy the holidays, cherish the time together, and we look forward to welcoming our students back refreshed and ready for a new year of learning and growth.

This season, we are especially thankful for the incredible students and dedicated staff who make the YES Afterschool Program such a meaningful and supportive community. Our students inspire us daily with their resilience, creativity, and growth, while our staff consistently go above and beyond to ensure each child feels supported, encouraged, and valued. Together, we create a space where learning extends beyond the classroom, and every student has the opportunity to thrive. We are truly grateful for the heart, commitment, and passion that make YES a place of impact.

Students engaged in an exploration of handcrafted accessories and the principles of entrepreneurship by designing unique pieces of jewelry and formulating a comprehensive business plan aimed at generating profit from their creations. Throughout this project, they will acquire essential skills in marketing, pricing strategies, and sales techniques specific to their designs. This initiative not only enhances literacy, mathematical reasoning, and financial literacy but also promotes creative expression. Additionally, it cultivates practical business acumen and collaborative skills, preparing students for real-world applications in the marketplace.

Welcome to YES Fall 2025
We started our program with a soft start on August 4, 2025, and we are underway to a successful year as we partner with our parents and the community to ensure each of our students exhibits growth this school year.
The amazing Principal Manzie Broxton, at Oak Hill Middle School, kicked off our first partnership event and spoke at our YES Parent Orientation to share Title I information and answer any questions parents may have concerning the school and their student. It was a great event!

The Afterschool Rundown 📚🎉
Our students have been hard at work during after-school hours, teaming up with their assigned teachers for dedicated homework help sessions. These moments aren’t just about finishing assignments—they’re about building confidence, strengthening academic skills, and creating positive study habits that will carry into the regular school day.
Teachers have been guiding students one-on-one and in small groups, making sure questions are answered, concepts are understood, and everyone leaves with a stronger grasp of their classwork. Students are also learning how to organize their time, manage tasks, and ask for help when they need it—essential skills for long-term success.
The best part? We’re already seeing smiles, “aha” moments, and that sense of accomplishment when students realize, “I can do this!” 🌟
Exciting News! 🚀
Our enrichment classes will kick off next month, giving students the chance to dive into hands-on STEAM learning. From creative experiments to interactive projects, students will be exploring science, technology, engineering, art, and math concepts in fun and engaging ways that spark curiosity and build real-world skills. We’re also excited to partner with community members and local organizations who will share their expertise and help bring these learning experiences to life! 🌟
Due to the tremendous turnout this month, we have reached our maximum number of participants. We will be inviting students on our waitlist as soon as spots become available.
THIS IS WHERE ATTENDANCE IS CRITICAL!
Students who are not attending consistently will be removed from the program, and we will start accepting students who are on the waiting list. After 5 days, you will receive an email regarding an attendance warning. After 10 days, we will notify you that your child will no longer be able to participate in the YES program due to lack of attendance.
