MSU has several options available for your students to get to know our campus this spring! The options listed below are available to all students.
However, if you have students who are already admitted to Mississippi State University, we encourage them to attend one of our Academic Insight events in February. These events are exclusive to admitted students and help them get familiar with their academic college and department (professors, current students, etc.).
Maroon Fridays: These are face-to-face events that are academic-college specific. During a Friday on campus, students and parents will take a tour with a current student and learn about different aspects of campus life (academics, student involvement, financial aid, scholarships, admissions and much more)! There is a $10 fee to attend Maroon Fridays. These are similar to our former Spring Preview Days. https://goto.msstate.edu/portal/maroon-fridays
️ Campus Visits: Available most weekdays, your students can experience MSU on campus by meeting with an Admissions Counselor and taking a tour with a Roadrunner, an MSU student. Virtual Visits: Do you have students who need an online option? We have virtual information sessions similar to what students would experience during a Campus Visit. The College of Education at Mississippi State University is proud to offer the Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program (METP) Scholarship. This innovative scholarship is designed to recruit and prepare teacher candidates for the future of tomorrow’s education profession. By Changing Tomorrow Through Education Today, the METP provides participants insight into world-class collaborative teaching pedagogy.
Qualified high school applicants must have a 28 or above on their ACT or a score of 1310 or above on the SAT and a 3.5 overall GPA. Participating scholars receive an award covering full tuition, books, room and board, and incidental expenses for four years of attendance along with a one-time technology stipend. Participants gain exposure from faculty and fellow METP scholars at both Mississippi State University and the University of Mississippi during a cross-campus visit and a summer residency. Scholars have an opportunity to experience a study abroad or an off-campus learning experience and the added opportunity of attending a national or regional professional conference relevant to their teaching discipline. Upon graduation, scholars must teach in a Mississippi public school for five years.
To apply for the award, applicants must first be admitted to Mississippi State University http://apply.msstate.edu/, and complete the METP application in the scholarship platform by the priority deadline of December 1st.
