LNESC and LULAC established the LULAC National Scholarship Fund (LNSF) to help youth in underserved communities make the dream of college enrollment a reality. LNSF is a unique partnership between grassroots advocates and corporations that fund educational opportunities for deserving youth across the U.S. Every dollar raised by local LULAC Councils is matched by corporate partners secured by LNESC, increasing the amount given in both the council and corporate names. This model results in a true grassroots/corporate partnership for the empowerment of the Latino community. Former recipients of LNSF scholarships are now leaders in fields of business, science, government, and education. A rigorous selection process assures the expectation that future recipients will demonstrate the same level of excellence.
Who is eligible?
LNSF Award Criteria: Applicants are eligible for the following three types of scholarship awards.
National Scholastic Achievement Awards ($2,000)
GPA of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale or equivalent, and if the student is an entering freshman, 29 or higher on the ACT test, or 1350 or higher on the SAT test.
Honors Awards ($500 to $2,000)
GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale or equivalent, and if the student is an entering freshman, 23 or higher on the ACT test, or 1100 or higher on the SAT test.
General Awards ($250 to $1,000)
Grades and academic performance will serve as indicators of potential; however, an emphasis may be placed on the individual's motivation, sincerity, and community involvement.

A scholarship is money given to you based on your performance (academic, athletic, or artistic), your character, your profile (job, religious affiliation, disability, etc.), or your history. There are also some that are purely random drawings. The money is given without expectation of repayment as long as you meet the criteria. Some are renewable, but many are one-time only. The important thing is to complete the applications well ahead of time, neatly, and completely. Know your deadlines and you won't stress near as much! There are also a number of very good scholarship search engines. They are listed on the subtab. I suggest you make a new email specifically dedicated to scholarship and post-secondary options. This will keep important notices from getting lost among your emails from friends and family. Below you will find a scholarship listed in alphabetical order .
Watch your DEADLINES.
Remember there usually are deadlines to APPLY FOR and another to ACCEPT your scholarships. Make sure you know if and when they are.
At the bottom of this page, I have attached scholarship application documents. I have left some from last year up, just to give you an idea of what will be coming. Make sure you note the dates on these so you'll know what is current and what is last years. I will eventually take the old ones off when I think you've had time to look them over.
Remember to access the documents, click on the down arrow beside the document.
ACADEMIC CHALLENGE SCHOLARSHIP Application window- October 1st- June 1st.
Here's the link: scholarships.adhe.edu
The academic eligibility requirement is now simply an ACT composite of at least 19, or an equivalent score on an equivalent test. Smart Core is no longer required for public high school students, nor is there a minimum GPA requirement. The equivalent tests we accept are SAT (average score of 730), the COMPASS (average score of 64), the ASSET (average score of 40), and now the Accuplacer (average score of 82). We have never had a limit on how old a test score can be, so we will accept COMPASS and ASSET scores as long as students submit them. Those two tests will no longer be offered by their publishers in the near future, but we will continue to accept the scores indefinitely.
The award for the first year will be $1000 ($500 per semester). The second year will be $4000 ($2000 per semester) at a four-year institution, or $3000 ($1500 per semester) at a two-year institution. The third year award amount will be $4000 ($2000 per semester) and the last year will be $5000 ($2500 per semester). Students will max out once they earn 120 credit hours.
Students who have earned at least 27 concurrent college credit hours by the end of their senior year of high school can petition ADHE to be considered as second year students, with the award amount increasing to the second year level. Those students would then be eligible for only six semesters of funding, rather than the eight semesters for which traditional students are eligible. They need to think twice about making that request, as they can’t change their minds about the scholarship even if they change their minds about their major, or lose a semester because of illness, etc. Requests musts be made to ADHE by June 1 of the year the student graduates from high school. We will also require an official college transcript by that date.
GOVERNOR’S DISTINGUISHED SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM- application window- October 1st- February 1st
The academic requirements for the GDS are an ACT composite of at least 32, and a GPA of at least 3.5. Beginning with the class of 2016, the GPA we use will be the student’s over-all GPA, as shown on the transcript, rather than the GPA in academic courses. The limit of the number of awards made each year remains at 300, unless extra funding is authorized. Every county is guaranteed a GDS. When a county does not have a resident that meets the minimum GDS requirements, the highest Academic Challenge Scholarship applicant in that county will be awarded the GDS. Please note that the Challenge Scholarship will be rescinded when the student is awarded GDS.
Beginning with the 2015-16 academic year, students can hold their scholarships for up to four semesters, but for only a limited number of reasons:
1. Student’s illness
2. Family member’s illness
3. Death in the family
4. Financial hardship
5. Military training
6. Military deployment
7. Internship or co-op
8. Need an additional semester to earn an associate’s degree, or to complete pre-requisites for a specific program
9. Service in a national or international Humanitarian Project
Please note that students are no longer allowed to put their scholarship on hold if they decide to attend an out-of-state college. They must decline the scholarship when it is offered to them. Anyone who decides to return to Arkansas for college can reapply as a non-traditional student in the future. GDS recipients are now, however, allowed to hold their scholarship for the first semester, which they were previously not allowed to do.

ARKANSAS STATE PRIVATELY FUNDED - Deadline Feb. 1st
APPLICATION CLOSED for 2018
From Bekah Hickman:
We have now opened the link to the Privately-Funded Scholarship application at A-State. All students are eligible to apply for these scholarships, which are awarded by alumni and donors of the university. Each scholarship has different requirements, which are determined by the person(s) who donate the funds. Scholarships are for full-time students and require evidence of scholastic achievement and/or outstanding ability in the area of the award, and they also vary in amounts and duration of the award.
Arkansas State has made it very easy for students to apply for these scholarships. Simply complete the online application to automatically apply for every Privately-Funded Scholarship available at Arkansas State. Parents and students should be aware that being awarded a scholarship is not guaranteed, but it is an opportunity I encourage as there are several hundred various scholarships available. The online application is located at www.astate.edu/scholarships and click Privately Funded Scholarships.
When a student begins the application process, they create an account that allows them to log back into their application at any time to make changes or updates until the deadline. It allows students to upload their resume, letters of recommendation, and/or personal statement. I recommend that students upload these documents because they help make your application standout from other students who only complete the online application.
The annual deadline to apply for the A-State Privately-Funded Scholarships is FEBRUARY 1, 2018. Please note that applications submitted by the February 1st deadline are valid for the entire 18-19 award year. Students are notified by mail if they are selected for one of the many scholarships available.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at rhickman@astate.edu or 870-972-2657. I also just wanted to note how much I have enjoyed working with you and your students this semester, and I look forward to continuing this in the spring. I wish you happy holidays and will speak with you soon!
Wolves up,

It doesn't cost anything; there's no long application, and then you've covered your bases. In fact, I'll even give you the direct link right here:
