You can communicate with staff in several ways:
Phone system: PHONE EXTENSION LIST
Walkie-talkies: All classrooms, Directors, front office staff, IAs and custodial crew have access to walkie-talkies. You may keep the walkie off if you are near your classroom phone. If you are away from your phone in an outdoor learning setting, please take and turn on your walkie. We will try to communicate with you via classroom phone first and try your walkie next. You may always communicate with the office or support staff using your walkie if that is more convenient than your classroom phone.
Email and ParentSquare: You may email anyone in the ACS organization via email at firstnamelastname@aveson.org. You can message anyone in the ParentSquare directory via the ParentSquare platform. Some staff communicate outside of regular work hours, however, it is the expectation that staff respond to emails and ParentSquare communications within 72 hours if not sooner during work hours only.
Cell phone: Staff are not required to use their personal cell phones for work use. Some staff choose to use their cell phones to quickly communicate with other staff members. This is a staff member’s personal choice.
**Most certificated and some other staff are issued Aveson laptops/chromebooks to use to conduct work related business. There is a computer in the staff lounge/community room for all staff to use for your convenience.
ParentSquare and email is our most frequent way of communicating with staff. Staff are expected to stay informed by reading ParentSquare posts and checking their email several times per week if not daily.
The Site Director will send out a weekly staff bite. Staff should read and familiarize themselves with the content of the newsletter each week.
Certificated staff have a physical mailbox. They are located in the front office. Staff are expected to check their mailboxes at least once per week.
Yes! Instructional Assistants are vital to our school family and play many important roles. These roles include supporting academic instruction, classroom management and behavior. recess and lunch supervision, morning car lines, our after school camp program, home school program and enrichment classes. This year's staff includes:
1 Tk IA
2 Kinder IAs
2 1-2 Team IAs
3 3-5 Team IAs
2 Aveson Independent Study Academy (home school) and enrichment classes IAs
2 Literacy Intervention IAs
1 Lead IA: Student Support/Floater
A few other notes:
IAs are primarily supervised by the Assistant Site Director with support from the Site Director.
IAs will have monthly professional development during school hours. This schedule is TBD and will be added to the ParentSquare calendar once determined.
Within parameters set by the Assistant Site Director, IAs and advisors will work together to create their daily schedule. That schedule will be populated on the ASL Schedules spreadsheet during August PD Week.
Advisors should have very clear expectations and routines for their IAs during instructional support time.
