All staff are part of ASL’s safety plan. If you see something, say something. It takes the whole school working together to keep students, staff and our property safe. All staff should adhere to the following practices.
Staff ID Badges -
All staff are required to wear an Aveson School of Leaders school ID badge. 2023-2024 school year badges will be made and distributed during August professional development week. If you need help with your badge during the school year, inquiries should be made to our Human Resources Manager, Jennifer Devonshire at humanresources@aveson.org.
Entering Campus -
All visitors to campus must come through the front gate and sign in. At no time should a staff member let any non-staff member onto campus via any other gates. Staff should direct all visitors to the front office.
Open Campus -
At this time, instructional, administrative, custodial and kitchen staff have the option of coming to campus during non school days/hours should they wish or need to. It is imperative that any door/gate that gets open, gets closed upon leaving campus. Campus safety is the responsibility of all staff.
Volunteers/Visitors -
We LOVE having volunteers and visitors on campus! We have a Volunteer/Visitor protocol that our community must follow when coming to campus during school hours. Please direct any families who wish to volunteer to our Office Assistant at jodyfunes@aveson.org.
Emergency Procedures -
We conduct monthly fire drills, thrice yearly earthquake drills, one lock down drill and one disaster drill each year. All staff at ASL are assigned a disaster drill team role. Staff receive PD for emergency procedures throughout the school year and are provided the supporting materials. Questions regarding our emergency procedures protocols should be directed to our Assistant Director, Stina Ross at stinaross@aveson.org.
Additionally, we support staff in staying up to date with their CPR/1st Aid certification. We will offer a class in August 2023.
Safe Schools Training -
All staff must complete online Safe Schools Training that covers common, but important training modules on a wide range of topics. This training must get completed at the beginning of the school year. Most new Aveson staff complete these training modules during their onboarding process. Questions regarding this training can be directed to our Human Resources Manager, Jennifer Devonshire at humanresources@aveson.org.
