Each Student will be able to accurately use the bezier tool to rework and abstract an existing photo to be covered under Fair Use.
Final image is covered under Fair Use (see chart at the bottom of this page).
Use of polygon shapes to emphasize specific areas of value.
Final product is clean and neat with no gaps between polygon shapes.
Final image is edited to transform the colors and change the background to be different from the original.
After learning about Fair Use and Copyright laws, students pick an image/Photo that they have permission to use from the copyright owner to trace their polygon shapes over for their final product. Images they can use include:
An image they took, making them the copyright owner.
An image they got permission to use from the copyright owner.
An image covered under a Creative Commons license, giving them automatic permission to modify or adapt the image.
Next, save and open that image into Inkscape.
Begin placing polygon contours over similar values on the image, filling each polygon shape with the underlaying value as you go. Remember, if you are trying to remain covered under fair use, you need to rework the image and/or use a small portion of it.
4. Once all polygons have been placed and filled with your choice of color, delete the original photo,
5. Use your selection tool and click and drag your mouse over all the polygons to select them (or CTRL+A to Select All)
6. Hold down shift and click on the little red X in the bottom left hand corner to get rid of your contour lines.
7. When done, go to file, export png file, and select the area you want to save, then save and export your png. On more steps on how to save your png image, click here.
