Illustration club is meant for students who love to draw cartoons, comics, and just in general want to improve their art with like-minded artistic peers. Students have access to their choice of traditional drawing, how-to draw books, and drawing programs free to use within the Graphic Design Classroom. Miss Yankey facilitates and helps guide artists to improve, but illustration club is more self-directed and focuses on independent study.
This means students get to help teach each other learn how to improve their art, give feedback and criticism that is constructive, and students get to spend a lot of time experimenting and practicing honing their own art style.
Students are building a body of work that they can sell at booths for events at Columbia, and hopefully will eventually get to sell at Denver Pop Culture Con.
Parent involvement is encouraged and welcome, please contact Miss Yankey if you'd like to come in and help monitor and guide illustration club, or if you're curious what your child likes to do or draw!
