Hello and welcome to my teacher website! My name is Adriana Yankey (Miss Yankey to my students). I am a Wyoming-born, Colorado transplant who has grown to love living and teaching in this beautiful state. I earned my Art Education degree from Northern Arizona University and am certified to teach grades K–12.
As a self-proclaimed lifelong doodler, my love for art naturally led me to teaching and to helping students discover their inner creative problem solver. I believe every student has a unique artistic voice, and I love guiding them as they build confidence, curiosity, and strong creative skills.
For the past eight years, I have taught art in Aurora Public Schools and Cherry Creek Public Schools, specializing in Digital Art and Graphic Design. I also work professionally as a freelance graphic designer for local businesses and nonprofits as well as a freelance illustrator and I sell my art at local Artist Alleys around Colorado. Outside of the classroom, I am a proud nerd who loves anime, cartoons, and comics. You can view my artist alley portfolio here and my graphic design portfolio here.
Welcome to my art teacher website! This site brings together the lessons, projects, and classroom practices I have developed as a Digital Art, Graphic Design, and Visual Art teacher throughout the years. The lessons on this site are meant to showcase the work my students have created and to serve as a resource that fellow art teachers and students can access, learn from, and follow along with.
You will find dedicated sections for my Digital Art lessons, Graphic Design curriculum, and Visual Art projects I have taught. Each area includes step-by-step project guides, unit overviews, and examples of student work from both introductory and advanced classes. The lessons are designed to be clear, adaptable, and accessible, supporting creativity whether you are working with free digital software, traditional art materials, or advanced tools like Procreate or Adobe Illustrator. My lessons are scalable for both middle and high school ages and some even for elementary.
This site also showcases how I was able to get students involved in using their art to help their community through poster design competitions and art shows. These opportunities encouraged students to create with purpose, share their talents with others, and gain real-world experience in applying their artistic skills.
My goal is to celebrate student creativity, share useful teaching resources, and provide a space where anyone can explore their creative voice, learn and appreciate the arts, and create for themselves and their community. Thank you for visiting, and feel free to reach out with any questions or ideas!
If you have any questions about my class or what I can teach please feel free to contact me. I respond best to email.
