Information

CLOTHING

Clothing that promotes drugs or alcohol is NOT permitted. Keep in mind that you will be interacting with faculty, mentors, graduate students, and visiting guest speakers (people you can ask for recommendation letters); although there is no dress code, we highly suggest appropriate casual clothing. Light, breathable clothing is highly recommended as well as a comfortable pair of walking shoes, as you will have to trek across campus to get to class (classrooms can sometimes be cold so if you can, bring a light jacket). We recommend at least two sets of formal/business casual wear for: Final Presentations & Closing Ceremony

MENTOR MEALS

MTBI provide's weeknights "Mentor Meals", these are mandatory. Mentor Meals are structured dinners that allow for students, faculty and tutors to collaborate and discuss the day’s material. They serve as an opportunity to network and create professional relationships that could last a lifetime. Due to the sensitive nature of Mentor Meals, we would like to stress the importance of ensuring that only people on the guest list will receive meals therefore we will not be allowing guests for any reason. Outside of that, you will be responsible for your own food.

STIPENDS

Stipends will be distributed in three checks: One within the first week of MTBI, one in the middle of the program (early July). Your last stipend check will be mailed to you after the program in the case of, lost room keys and/or damages to your room (cost for replacement dorm key is up to $200).

LAPTOPS

The program laptops are loaned out to participants each summer; to ensure that we have them available to students in the future please do your best to treat them with care. During the program, you assume full responsibility for any damages or losses that occur (maintenance fees may be taken out of your stipends depending on severity of damage).

CHECK-OUT/DONATIONS

During your stay, it will be your responsibility to ensure that your room is clean and that trash is taken out regularly. It is expected for your room to be completely cleaned out upon checkout; failure to clean out your room will result in a cleaning fee and will be taken out of your stipend. Any leftover food, toiletries, etc. will be donated to a local charity. You will need to ensure that all donations are given to Sabrina the day before you fly out.

TALENT SHOW

Each year MTBI holds a talent show for students, tutors, and faculty to partake in and share their talents. In the past we have had students, sing, dance, play an instrument and even magic tricks. The talent show will be held on July 3rd so make sure that you bring your instrument, deck of cards, or artistic abilities with you to share with your friends and colleges.
