Deissy Milena Sotelo Castelblanco is Assistant Professor at Universidad Nacional de Colombia - Manizales. She was born in Bogotá, Colombia, where she got a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Master's degree in Sciences - Mathematics. She got a Ph.D. in Sciences - Applied Mathematics at Universidade de São Paulo, Brasil under the mentorship of Dr. Fabio Armando Tal.

Deissy's research interests lie in the study of Dynamical Systems, using rotation theory as a tool to understand the dynamics and applications of surface homeomorphisms and currently, applications to biology of piecewise monotone maps.
