Dr. Carlos Castillo-Garsow

About

There once was a man from New York

Who was a bit strange like a quark

With tastes you must try

Like being punched by a pie

He cooked tacos with cherries and pork

In school he had an ambition

To become a mathematician

Also studied linguistics

And a little statistics

But teaching good math is his mission

He studies how people will model

And other similar twaddle

How math ideas change

And how mentors arrange

For students to do something novel

He also teaches math history

At a pace that is somewhat blistery

With a past of adversity

Our math lacks diversity

Pre-colonial math is his mystery

His hobbies revolve around learning

For novelty he has a yearning

He likes to make art

That’s both strange and smart

And induce some emotional churning

His love for pop culture is strong

Loves movies much more when they’re wrong

He often will quote

What someone else wrote

In a film or a game or a song
