The Theme of the Event
A Sandbox for Teaching and Learning in Quantum CI for Pre-University and Undergraduate Students
Motivation
▪ Bring more participants to our IEEE CIS conferences and competitions.
▪ Increase the HS outreach by IEEE CIS.
▪ Educate young students (High School and undergraduate) through a fun competition.
▪ The idea is to create a young student workshop with an associated competition inspired by the F.I.R.S.T. robotics competition.
Before or during the first hours of the event, students will receive learning materials and guidance from tutors to learn about a Quantum CI-related topic.
Later, students will be enabled to test learned materials in a simple real-world application.
Namely, programming robots and learning tools to solve various tasks.
On the day of the competition, students should team up with students to encourage cooperation.
Activity Goals
Promote STEM education for young students in IEEE CIS.
Motivate undergraduate or pre-university students globally to explore Computational Intelligence (CI) techniques using Quantum CI hardware/software.
Encourage young students and researchers to apply Quantum CI techniques in real-world scenarios.
All Pre-University Participants
Prerequisites: No prerequisites required
During the event, we will offer three workshops in which students first learn about a Quantum CI-related topic and later have the chance to apply learned skills in a competitive task.
Workshop 1: Concept-based Learning including Fuzzy Sets and Systems, Evolutionary Computation, and Quantum Computational Intelligence.
Workshop 2: Experience-based & Operation-based Learning
Workshop 3: Learning Experience Sharing
Participation Way: Online @ Google Meet or Onsite @ NTNU, Norway
Online: The main participants come from international school students for Workshop 1.
OnSite: The main participants come from the local school students & volunteers.
