#KELLANDSFAMILY

At Kellands, we pride ourselves on getting to know the families in our community and offering support however and whenever we can to parents and carers.

Place2Be is a children's and young people's mental health charity with almost 30 years' experience working with pupils, families and staff in UK schools.

The Place2Be website is a fabulous source of  information, especially their Parenting Smart mini-site, which is full of practical advice and tried and tested tips for parents and carers of to support primary-age children with wellbeing and behaviour.

At Kellands, we are on a mission to raise awareness of neurodiversity amongst pupils and staff but also the wider community too. Parenting a neurodivergent child can be exhausting. The stress, the worry, the ongoing lists of extra things to monitor and manage can seem endless. Often it feels like there's no spare moment to do anything other than be on constant guard for what is coming or might be coming. With this in mind, we have started a support group for parents/carers in our community with neurodiverse children. It is called Umbrella Families Together and we hope it will provide a safe space for parents/carers to get together, have a tea or coffee, share experiences, lend an ear, and just have a well deserved rest with empathic and understanding people.

Our first get together is on Thursday 22nd June 2023 at the school from 3:30pm - 4:30pm - all parents/carers welcome.
