Our Promise Group did an assembly about The Promise on 10.06.24 and what it means for us. We were joined by families and special guests from the local authority.

They did a brilliant job!

The group got lovely feedback such as:

Wonderful presentation that was really informative. Loved hearing about what you guys have been up to and all of you spoke so clearly and well!

Great to hear about the experiences from the children themselves and to see how well they have all done.

I'm so honoured to have been invited to your assembly today. It is so amazing to hear you talking about what The Promise means to you and so great to hear about all the amazing things you've been doing in your Promise group. What you have all done in Kellands is amazing, and I would so like to see other schools doing this too.

GIRFEC EVENT

Our Promise Group spoke to delegates at the recent Getting it Right for Every Child event at Woodhill House. They did a great job!

Theatre trip

We went to the theatre to see The Life of Pi. We had such an awesome day! We loved the whole show and also the bus trip was fun. Shout out to Sandy the bus driver - he was brilliant and we laughed a lot together!

Drama Production

We worked with Annabel from 10 Feet Tall Productions to create our very own play. It was based on a cluedo/murder mystery theme and was called 'Model Mystery'. It was all our own work and we performed it to our classes and families.

In Term 2 of 2023/2024, a small group of children at Kellands Primary (from P5 - P7) and a group of students from Inverurie Academy worked with a visual arts duo (the fantastic Graeme Roger and Dave Martin of Wildbird) to create two short films.

Kellands pupils went to Castle Fraser to capture video and images and recorded their very own soundtrack in school. The films the children produced reflect their personalities, the fun of childhood,  and the beautiful Aberdeenshire countryside.

The project culminated in style with the finished films being projected onto the side of the Community Campus building in Inverurie.  It was really fab seeing the finished works and our very own on-screen movie stars! A true celebration of fun, play, friendship, working together and being heard.

You can watch the Kellands movie below and see some photos from the evening of the premiere.

Now that's what we call, making it to the big screen!

This project was supported by Step Into The Arts funding,  a youth-led grant programme from Youth Scotland and Creative Scotland, to which we are ever so grateful.

Thanks and endless high-fives to Graeme Roger and Dave Martin of Wildbird for being so brilliantly creative and good humoured with our kiddies.

Finally, to the young filmmakers from both Kellands Primary and Inverurie Academy, building-side premieres of movie masterpieces don't roll around too often and you should be so proud of everything you've learned and achieved through this project.
