Extra-curricular ACTIVITIES
The school offers a range of clubs and activities including sports, technology, creative, and musical opportunities. Clubs are run by staff and sometimes by the children, they can take place during the school-day at lunch times or after school. Please have a look below to see what we currently offer at Kellands.
animation
Our Animation Club is an after-school club that runs once a week with Mrs Cruickshanks. It is aimed at Primary 5 pupils so if that's your year group and you're interested in tech and creative story-telling then please let Mrs Cruickshanks know, this might just be the club for you!
chess
At Kellands, we know our Queen's Gambit from our Sicilian Defense! Our Chess Club takes place at various lunchtimes throughout the week. Check-mate!
cHoir
Alongside the teaching of music in school, at Kellands we also provide extra-curricular opportunities for children to further develop their love and enjoyment of music and performance.
We have a school choir open to all children from P4-P7, with no process of selection. Our pupils have taken part in various local music events such as The Big Sing in Inverurie, The St. Andrew’s Church Jubilee concert and The Evening Express Christmas concert at the P&J Live. More recently, some of our musicians have enjoyed meeting during their lunch breaks, collaborating to create music to perform at our music assemblies within school. These performances, both within school and further afield, help to develop their confidence and allow them to establish a sense of pride in representing themselves and their school to others.

hairy bikers
Hairy Bikers is a girls only club that was started with the intention of raising participation and engagement levels in cycling among girls.
Since starting, the club has proven a great success with those attending having experienced growths in confidence, skill sets and knowledge of how to stay safe on the roads. We have also facilitated the training of several volunteers, including parents and staff, in Led Rider and Bikeability qualifications with impacts felt across the wider school community.
At Hairy Bikers, the girls gain a breadth of skills including knowledge of how to safely cycle on and off road, maintain a safe bike alongside technical cycle skills. Our weekly group cycles give the girls an opportunity to explore their local community while building social skills.
The success of Hairy Bikers has been enjoyed by many pupils, families and staff alike and we look forward to future adventures.
hockey
At Kellands we have a P4-7 hockey club. Mr Cole-Hamilton, Mrs Simpson and Mrs Inglis take turns at running it after school on Tuesdays. We've still got space for new members so if you are interested please contact the office!
K-BARS
K-Bars is our very own bike maintenance group that work with Sustrans to service bikes and are learning how to maintain a healthy set of wheels!
netball
At Kellands, we have a Primary 4 to Primary 7 netball team that currently train every Thursday after school. At training, we work on skills such as passing, agility and shooting. In the Spring & Summer terms, we attend various tournaments at different schools in the region. The tournaments are a great confidence boost for the pupils, and a great opportunity to put our skills into practice.
