One of the benefits of your participation in the Debutante Program is that you will be paired with an Arlington Foundation for Excellence in Education (AFEE) Mentor. She will work with you and your family throughout the process to ensure your experience as a debutante is as enjoyable, enriching and rewarding as it was designed to be!
While your AFEE Mentor will be a great resource to assist you with fundraising ideas, answer your questions, remind you of debutante program deadline dates, etc. It is also a great opportunity for you to build a lasting bond that will exist past the debutante program; therefore, we encourage you to foster your relationship with your AFEE Mentor by:
Inviting her to your extra-curricular school activities
Going to lunch/dinner together
Completing a community service project together
Attending a movie or play together
Taking a trip to a museum
Help with your scrapbook
Virtual Activity or Event together
Attend your optional DEB-sponsored event
The possibilities are endless! Therefore, embrace this opportunity by communicating your likes and interests to your AFEE Mentor as well as be open to her exposing you to new and exciting things!
Spending time with your mentor is part of the Debutante competition and therefore, you will receive points for your interaction with her that will be calculated in your overall debutante score.
To receive points, you must complete the Mentor Verification Google Form and submit it within ten (10) days of the completed activity/contact with your mentor. Once the Mentor Verification Google Form is received, your mentor will be contacted to verify the activity.
Please note:
The debutante is responsible for submitting all Mentor Verification Google Forms.
Hard copies of the document will NOT be accepted
Forms submitted ten (10) days after the activity are ineligible for points. No exceptions.
The debutante and the mentor are responsible for communicating with each other.
If possible, please upload a photo from your activity with your mentor
In situations where both mentors are present for an activity, you may only receive credit once.
The maximum amount of time you can submit for an activity is three (3) hours.
Points for your interaction with your AFEE Mentor will be scored as follows:
Debutantes will receive five (5) points for each activity PLUS an additional:
5pts for a minimum of 5 contact hours with your mentor completed by October 26
10pts for a minimum of 10 contact hours with your mentor completed by October 26
15pts for a minimum of 15 contact hours with your mentor completed by October 26
*Note: Membership Verification forms MUST be submitted by Sunday, October 26, 2025, for the points to be calculated into your debutante score.
