Community Service Guidelines

Throughout the debutante season, the Community Service Committee will share ideas and opportunities for points and additional service hours with debutantes through the Activity Calendar, Community Service Section and GroupMe.

Scheduled Community Service Activities

Each Debutante will receive 10 points for participating in each scheduled community service activity.

Arlington ISD Back to School Fair 

• Date: August 2, 2025

• Time:  8:45 am - 11 am

• Location:  1 AT&T Way Arlington, TX 76011

• Debs should communicate their arrival to Helen Waiters via cell 817-721-0066

• Volunteer Task:  Assist with backpack management. 

Rainbow Room Bag Drive

• September 1, 2025 - September 21, 2025

• In-Person Bag Drop-off Dates: 

  1. September 6, 2025 (Scholarship workshop)

  2. September 21, 2025 (AFEE Introductions)

• Volunteer Task: Collect bags from donors. Debs must collect a minimum of 15 bags OR a $10 donation for each bag.  Debs and others can donate on the Debs behalf via the donation link - https://igfn.us/form/fHZlww 

• All bags must have zippers.

• Backpacks, overnight bags, totes, travel bags, rolling backpacks, baby bags, etc. Reusable Pouches in multiple sizes up to carry-on,
  any sturdy material, new/unused items only

• Bags can be filled with infant or adult hygiene items if desired but not required. (Male/Female Ages Infant – 18)

OPTIONAL Community Service Activities

Debutantes will be awarded External Community Service Hours corresponding to the total time spent on volunteering activities, excluding travel time to and from the activity.

XTO Our Seniors Pen Pal Program 

• Date: May 30, 2025

Volunteer Task:  Create min. 4 inspiration cards for residents at the Brookdale Senior Living Center

• Date: July 12, 2025

• Time: 10 am - 12 pm

• Location:  University of Texas at Arlington - Business Building (COBA) - Room 150

• Volunteer Task:  Decorate birthday cards for homeless children.

• Parking instructions: UTA College of Business PARKING

XTO Our Seniors Pen Pal Program - card drop off

• Date: July 25, 2025

• Time:  2:00 pm - 3:00 pm 

• Location: Brookdale Pecan Park - Senior Living Center

• Volunteer Tasks: deliver inspirational cards and play bingo with residents

Packing Day for Kamaria's Kloset 

• Date: August 24, 2025

• Time: 3:30 pm

• Location: Step by Step Dance Studio - 900 E Copeland Rd, Arlington, TX 76011 

• Volunteer Tasks: pack toiletry bags

XTO Day at Arlington City Hall (Civic Engagement)

• Date: September 20, 2025

• Time: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

• Location: 101 West Abram St., Arlington, TX

• Volunteer Tasks: greeting attendees

• All Debs should communicate their arrival to Helen Waiters via cell 817-721-0066

• All Debs should wear their green DEB t-shirt, black pants, black shoes/sandals (no tennis shoes, Crocs or flip-flops)

XTO Community 5K Run/Walk 

• Date: September 27, 2025

• Time: 7:30 am - 10:00 am 

• Location: 2121 Havenwood Dr. Arlington, TX 76018

• Volunteer Tasks: cheer for participants and pass out medals when participants cross the finish line

• All Debs should communicate their arrival to Helen Waiters via cell 817-721-0066

• All Debs should wear their green DEB t-shirt, appropriate shorts

CHIPP (Children Hunger Initiative Power Pack) Packing

• Date: October 25, 2025

• Time:  9:45 am - 11:00 am

• Location: Bryant Elementary 2201 Havenwood Dr. Arlington, TX 76018

• Volunteer tasks: packers, quality control, recycle team, and pantry stocking

• All Debs should communicate their arrival to Tamara Gaffney via cell 214-434-2207

Individual Community Service

Debutantes will be awarded External Community Service Hours corresponding to the total time spent on volunteering activities, excluding travel time to and from the activity. Please note the following guidelines:

•  Turn in Individual Community Service Hours form at Debutante activities. (See Activity Calendar) OR upload form electronically using the following link: https://form.jotform.com/251905130525146

• The final community service reporting deadline is October 26, 2025. Debutantes cannot receive credit toward community service score calculation for hours submitted after the October 26, 2025 deadline.  

• Include the contact person's name and number on the verification form.  The committee will randomly verify your participation with organizations. 

• Email your community service form to: SCHOLARSHIPS@ARLINGTONEDUCATION.ORG

• All community service hours must be submitted no longer than 30 days after volunteering.

• Volunteer activities performed at church are not eligible.
