Elementary

Elementary Student Drop-Off/Pick-Up Area a.k.a. “Kiss & Ride”

The “Kiss and Ride” area is the stretch of driveway from Barker St. to Elm St. between school exits C through G.  It is also known as the “Sunnyside” location.  This stretch of drive is intended for one-way motor traffic entering from Barker St. and exiting on Elm St. toward Paul St.

This area is also shared with two-way foot traffic.  Pedestrian traffic should flow along the building side, or alternatively out through Elm St. along the shoulders of the street.  Elm St. is an unpaved town street.  Pedestrians and drivers are urged to exercise an abundance of caution when navigating this area.

Vehicle traffic should flow as a single-lane - entering at Barker St. and exiting at Elm St. - with standing and parking zones along the right-hand side for student drop-off and pick-up.  There is an accessible parking spot in the first position of Sunnyside - the first space nearest to Elm St.  The intent of this spot is to offer children with accessibility needs equitable access to their ride.

Although there may appear to be room for an additional lane of traffic along the left-hand side of the “Kiss and Ride”, there is not.  The left-hand lane is reserved for moving traffic only.  Please do not park, stand, or stop your vehicle along the left-hand side of this driveway parallel to the fence as it creates a safety hazard for our children.  We need to maintain two zones: one on the right for dropping off, and one on the left for moving traffic.
