Head Lice

Pediculosis

HPEDSB recognizes that pediculsois a.k.a. head lice is not a reportable disease, and it is considered a social nuisance rather than a health problem.  Current research shows that school exclusion does not prevent or control head lice infestations, and causes harm to children who are stigmatized.  Students identified with head lice will not be asked to leave school, instead HPEDSB schools will support students and their families to receive treatment.  For additional information please see Procedure 321
