Step 1:
If your fabric is not already one yard, cut it to one yard. (The fabric is folded in half in the photo).
Think about what way your pattern should face. Ask if you need help with this!
Trim off any frayed edges.
Step 2:
On the long edge, measure a ½ inch. Fold and iron.
Make sure you keep that same measurement the whole way down the fabric.
Step 3:
Measure another 4 inches, fold and iron.
This will create the lines for the cuff of the pillow. It’s easier to measure a flat piece of fabric instead of measuring after you’ve already sewn the pillowcase.
Step 4:
Fold the fabric right sides together. Put in a few pins or clips to keep it straight. Make sure your edges line up.
Sew down the edge opposite the fold (this will be the bottom of your pillowcase with a 1/2 inch seam allowance. Pivot at the corner and sew to the top. (see black lines on photo)
Make sure you backstitch at the beginning and end.
Use scissors to cut your corners.
Step 5:
Sew a zigzag stitch along the edges to keep your fabric from fraying.
Step 6:
Fold your fabric on the lines you ironed earlier to create the cuff. Pin in place.
Step 7:
Sew about an ⅛ of an inch from the edge.
Step 8:
Turn right side out and trim the threads.
Gently poke out your corners with a chopstick
Iron your seams.
