Step 1:
Cut three 4x4 squares in coordinating fabrics.
Then cut two 4x4 squares of interfacing. Cut one of the squares diagonally to make a triangle. (split the triangle with a classmate, so we don’t waste it)
Step 2:
Iron the interfacing (bumpy side down) on the wrong side of the square that will be the pocket. (see photo)
Iron the square onto the piece that will be the back.
Step 3:
Fold the pocket piece in half wrong sides together. Press with the iron.
Step 4:
Put the triangle onto the square with the interfacing. Then put the other square on top.
Step 5:
Pin or clip in place. Mark 2 inches (with pins or fabric marker) on one of the sides away from the pocket. See pins in photo.
Step 6:
Starting at one pin, sew with a ¼ inch seam allowance around the square. Leave the marked two inches open.
Step 7:
Clip corners.
Step 8:
Turn right side out. Use a chopstick to press out corners. Press with a hot iron.
Step 9:
Topstitch around with an ⅛ seam allowance.
