2.1 JINGLE HELL: MUSIC IN TV and ADVERTISING
COURSE OVERVIEW
In this course we will be looking at the use of music in film and TV, with a focus on advertising. We will be looking at how music is used to manipulate your emotions, and how and why composers and advertising executives use music in advertising and film. We will also be writing our own jingles, sound-tracks and 'mood' music scores, using a variety of techniques, instruments, and technologies.
This overview (and the following lesson plans) cover the 'L.A. directed' component of the course. The following pages should help you keep up with all class activites and discussions. However, the study of music is really all about individual passions and interests! You will also want to pursue other musical activites that really interest you -for example practicing your main instrument, or listening to and playing music you really enjoy. Some class time will be available for you to work on your own musical projects.
