Join us for our final Messy Conversation of the spring quarter, as Russell Thornhill and David Tripp engage one another in an open, honest, and intimate conversation about LGBT+ and Queer perspectives on self-discovery, self-making, and claiming identity, among other things.
Russell Thornhill, EdD joined the Antioch University Los Angeles community in 2010. He earned a BA in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Nonprofit Management, followed by an MA in Organizational Management. He later attended seminary, earning an MA in Religious Studies. On May 2, 2025, he was conferred the Doctor of Education (EdD) in Educational & Professional Practice with a concentration in Social Justice Leadership. Dr. Thornhill’s dissertation is titled:
LOVING–LEARNING–LEADING–LIVING: A Scholarly Personal Narrative of a Black Gay Father.
Dr. Thornhill teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate programs at Antioch and serves as Co-Director of the Antioch Bridge Program.
David Tripp, PhD taught at USC, CSULA, Southwest CC, and Glendale CC before teaching his first course at Antioch in the summer of 1989 and he's been here ever since. He is the the director of the Queer Studies Area of Concentration at AULA. He served as chair of the BA program (1998-2002) and was the Founding Director (1999) of the Bridge Program. Always passionate about teaching and suffering from an "infinite curiosity problem," over the years he has designed over 40 courses or workshops for undergraduate students.
